Macao Delegation Leaves for National Tourism Fair

A tourism delegation of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) left Macao Wednesday for Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwest China to attend the national tourism fair.

The fair is held in Urumqi, capital city of Xinjiang, from July 12 to 16 and is the biggest annual national gala aimed at promoting the country's tourism sector. Similar fairs have been held in seven Chinese cities.

The delegation is headed by Fernando Chui Sai On, secretary for social and cultural affairs of the Macao SAR government.

Speaking to the press at the Macao International Airport, Chui Sai On said that the delegation will have a press conference during the fair to introduce Macao's unique tourism resources.

In addition, the delegation members will seek better cooperation with their counterparts in the inland areas, especially those in the western parts of the country, he said.
