The national congresses of the All-China Youth Federation (ACYF) and the All-China Students' Federation (ACSF) opened in the Great Hall of the People in Beiing Tuesday.

Hu Jintao, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the state vice-president, addressed the opening ceremony of the First Plenum of ACYF's Ninth National Committee and ACSF's 23rd National Congress.

The former president of the ACYF expressed his warm welcome to all delegates from around the country and overseas. He urged Chinese young people and students to contribute to the country's economic development and reunification.

Some 1,670 delegates will be present during the week-long congresses to revise their constitutions and elect their new leading bodies.
