Fujian Policemen Extinguish Fire of Taiwanese Boat
On the evening of July 3, officers and soldiers of the detachment of Zhangzhou Police Station, risking their lives, fought life-and-death against fire on a Taiwanese boat and saved five Taiwanese fishermen and the boat worth more than 2 million yuan.
At 10 o'clock on the evening of July 3, heavy smoke suddenly arose from the front cabin of a Taiwanese boat at the Gongkou Dock of Zhao'an County in Fujian Province, then the flames leaped up above the deck. With the help of wind and waves on the sea, the fire rapidly spread to its neighboring wooden boats. At this extremely critical moment, two soldiers, who were on duty at the Gongkou Harbor, found the fire and immediately reported to their higher authority. Several minutes later, after receiving order from the headquarters of the "Sea 110", the boat group and officers and soldiers of Gongkou Frontier Station instantly set off to fight against the fire. Braving the raging fire, hot air and heavy smoke, they rushed into the sea of flames and transferred the five fishermen on to their own boat, in the meantime, they put out the fire with fire extinguishers and seawater. They fought bravely against the fire regardless of the fact that their hands and feet were burned and clothes and hair were scorched.
One hour later, the fire was extinguished finally. It's said that the boat hasn't been seriously damaged and the local frontier station is helping its owner with the repair work.
