Foreign High-Quality Brand Protection Ranks Expanded

Since March, another 12 transnational companies have applied to join the High-Quality Brand Protection Commission of China Foreign-Funded Enterprises Association. They are currently going through register procedures.

Sources say that the Commission was established to strike fake products and respond to the requirement that the enterprises and government take coordinated action to jointly fight against counterfeit products. It is devoted to helping the Chinese government find effective means to tackle the problem.

The High-Quality Brand Protection Commission of China Foreign-Funded Enterprises Association was founded on March 2, this year, whose founding members comprise 28 transnational companies, including Coca-Cola, Nike, and P&G. Incomplete statistics show that these companies own over US$ 6 billion of investment in China.

Zhong Zhefu, president of the Commission and Bestfood£¨China£©Company, Ltd. said that the members of the Commission give all-out support to China's early entry to the WTO and wish that China will have a healthy and opening market, which is extremely important to the further improvement of the investment environment for foreign businesses.

"Through recent activities, we have perceived that Chinese governments at different levels, and both Chinese and foreign enterprises are making active efforts to solve the problem of fake products", said Zhong, "We will continue our support for China's work of clamping down on fake products and carry out cooperation with governments at different levels so as to find a new way to solve the problem."

Prior to this, the Commission had held two symposiums on striking the fake and protecting the high-quality products in Hangzhou and Beijing. Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation and judicial organs of different levels attended the meeting. Currently, the Commission is busy preparing for the third meeting.
