China Sees Fast Rise of Inbound Tourism in First Quarter

China's international tourism saw a rapid growth in the first quarter of 2000 as it received a total of nearly 19.17 million inbound tourists, up by 15.5 percent over the same period last year.

China's foreign exchange earnings from tourism in the first quarter reached almost US$3.61 billion, a rise of 17.7 percent over the same period last year. In terms of the tourist market, the number of visitors to China from other countries in Asia, Europe and Oceania maintains an excess of 10 percent rise, among them, the number of Asian tourists has increased by 25.8 percent.
