Traditional Chinese Medicine Education Stresses Heritage

Seasoned traditional Chinese medicine experts are finding more people following in their footsteps to become qualified doctors.

Traditional Chinese medicine stresses the accumulation of knowledge and personal accomplishment, and its educational method is "one to one," which means one teacher can only teach only one student at a time.

The State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine spends 500,000 yuan every year to promote traditional Chinese medicine education.

About 627 traditional Chinese medicine students have completed their studies and become qualified doctors in the past decade. In 1990, the Ministry of Personnel, the Ministry of Public Health, and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine issued a joint decision on traditional Chinese medicine education, and about 1,021 experts became teachers to 1,562 students the same year.

The paper notes that most traditional Chinese medicine students have obtained their teachers' expertise, and even made innovations in some treatment methods.
