The second symposium on Confucius and Socrates, sponsored by the Chinese Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Association for Development of Europe-China Relations of Greece, was held in Beijing on April 20.
Scholars specializing Chinese philosophy from China and Greece attended the symposium and discussed a number of issues, including differences between Chinese and Greek philosophers, defining Confucian thought, and the theories of Confucius and Socrates.
The first symposium on Confucius and Socrates was held in Athens in 1998.
