NPC Vice-chairman Calls for Tighter Control Over Land Administration

Zou Jiahua, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), called Wednesday for strengthening the land administration system as China faces increased population and less land.

He told a meeting of NPC law enforcement inspection teams that construction in rural and urban areas, and in particular, the expansion of cities in recent years, has seriously damaged land resources.

The implementation of the Land Administration Law over the past year has greatly curbed the abuse of farmland. However, abuses and violations of laws are still prevalent, the vice-chairman said. He called on all departments and localities to be strict in implementing the Law and carefully manage and supervise land resources.
