A top Chinese army leader called for the People's Liberation Army (PLA) forces to improve their combat capacity in combined operations in high-tech warfare.

Addressing a military theory seminar Thursday, General Fu Quanyou, chief of the General Staff of the PLA and member of the Central Military Commission, said that measures must be taken to solve problems arising the joint operations of the air force, army and navy.

The PLA has made substantial achievements in both the theory and practice of joint operations of the armed forces, he said, adding that however, more efforts are needed in this regard so as to contribute greatly to China's long-term peace, prosperity and stability.
