China PLA Chief of General Staff Meets Israeli Guests

Fu Quanyou, chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) met in Beijing January 19 with Moshe Ivry-Sukenik, the head of ground forces commander of Israel, and his party.

Fu, who is also a member of the Central Military Commission, said that China and Israel have had steady and fruitful cooperation in various fields since the two countries forged diplomatic ties.

Fu noted that high-level visits between the armed forces of the two countries in recent years have enhanced mutual understanding and friendship.

He expressed his thanks for the Israeli government's "one China" position, and briefed the guests on China's domestic situation and military construction.

Sukenik said that Israeli-China relations hold an important position in Israeli foreign affairs, and said he hopes to see a steady development of cooperative relations between the armed forces of the two countries.
