Business 9th World Trade Placing Predicted for China

China is predicted to take the top 9th in 1999 from 1998's 11th in terms of its imports and exports completed in the year according to WTO experts as is reported from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Imports and exports by China in 1999 netted a total worth of US$360.7 billion to register an 11.3 % growth over last year. Of these, US$194.9 billion were exports, up 6.1%; imports US$165.8 billion, up 18.2% to show a great rise over 4% of the world average growth.

In early 1978, China's imports and exports were placed merely at a worth of US$20.64 billion, with an export amount claiming merely 0.75% of the world and its imports and exports to be put in the 32nd place of the world total.
