Sci-Tech China Develops Super Anti-Bacteria Fabric

China has developed a super anti-bacteria cotton fabric for medical use by applying nanometric techniques.

The medical dressing is a cotton fabric coated with super fine particles of silver.

Processed with nanometric techniques, the silver particles are only 0.1 micron in diameter on average, one-500th of the width of human hair. With their exterior surface great extended and their outer structure totally changed, the super fine silver particles are 200 times more effective in killing bacteria than larger ones.

The silver particles can effectively curb the multiplication of more than 40 kinds of bacteria, including colon bacillus. They can prevent wound from festering and accelerate healing.

The dressing was developed by the Nanjing Xike Group in east China's Jiangsu province. In clinical experiments, the medical dressing showed superior character in treating wound, burn, ulcer and gynecological diseases.
