Sci-Tech On-line Medical Aid Benefits Tourists

Tourists in China will be able to find on-line medical help at a new website created by Brilliance-China International E-Business Network Co and the medical assistance centre under the Ministry of Health, according to a report of today's China Daily.

The company, with its website of www.chinae-net.com, will also establish the country's first on-line medical assistance monitoring and service systems, according to an agreement signed by the two sides recently in Beijing.

All the systems will connect to an international SOS programme, which provides medical aid and protection to international tourists.

So far, it has included 812 Chinese hospitals in its network.

With the participation of Brilliance-China, tourists can access fast and easy on-line medical services in China, said company officials.

Brilliance-China, or www.chinae-net.com, will invest 83 million yuan (US$10 million) in setting up the system, it said.

As a major Internet company who also provides on-line settlement services, Brilliance-China will also offer on-line service and fund settlement services to domestic on-line hospitals and the International SOS organization.

The company decided to create the website because of the prosperous tourist market in China and the increasing demand for medical services from visitors.
