Sunday, January 30, 2000, updated at 10:52(GMT+8) World Chinese Vice Premier Meets With Kazakh PM in Davos Chinese Vice PremierWu Bangguo met with Kazakh Prime Minister Kasymzhomart Tokayev in Davos on January 28 evening on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF). The two leaders focused their talks on economic and trade linksbetween China and Kazakhstan. Tokayev hailed the increased trade between the two countries and expressed the hope for joint effortsto further boost trade. They reviewed the progress in bilateral relations since China and Kazakhstan established diplomatic ties eight years ago, agreeing that the visit by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev last year has helped consolidate the relations. "China regards its ties with Kazakhstan in a strategic perspective," Wu told Tokayev during the meeting at the Seehof Hotel, where Wu stays in the eastern Swiss town of Davos. The Kazakh Prime Minister said that his country attaches great importance to its relations with China, noting that the solution to the two close neighbors' border issues has contributed to developing bilateral ties.
