Business Blueprint Worked Out for Beijing's Industrial Development

The capital of Beijing has worked out a strategic plan for developing high-tech industries in the new century, according to sources with the Beijing Municipal government,

The city plans to move 134 industrial enterprises out of downtown Beijing within three to five years which cover a total area of 6.13 million square meters.

The downtown areas of Beijing will be used mainly to develop catering industries, information, tourism, industrial marketing services.

The Zhongguancun Area will concentrate on developing electronic and information technology industries.

The Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone will be built into a bioengineering and gene-based pharmaceutical production base.

The areas along the Badaling Expressway will be used to develop manufacturing industries employing high technology.

Enterprises emitting air pollution in the center of Beijing will be relocated to the city's north.
