Business Beijing to Invest 11 Billion US Dollars in Fixed Assets

Beijing expects to spend some 11.1 billion US dollars for environmental protection, transportation, and industrial technology renovation projects, and the construction of residential buildings this year.

The Beijing municipal government will invest an additional 1.2 billion US dollars for sewage and garbage processing, piping natural gas into more households, and urban transportation.

The capital city will also focus on creating 50 key projects, including a light rail connecting the northern suburbs with the downtown area, the subway line linking the city from north to south, continued construction of the Fourth Ring Road, and the building of a national theater near the Tian'anmen Square.

Beijing plans to finish these projects with bank loans, treasury bonds, foreign investment, non-governmental investment, and allocated funds from the securities markets.
