China PLA Chief of General Staff Meets Angolan Guests

Fu Quanyou, chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met here today with Demostenes Amos Chilingutila, deputy minister of defense of Angola, and his party in Beijing on January 24.

Fu, who is also a member of the Central Military Commission, noted that the two countries have many common interests and broad consensus on major international issues.

China values its relations with Angola, said Fu, adding that the Chinese government and the armed forces will continue to enhance friendly cooperative ties with Angola.

He expressed his thanks for the Angolan government's support of China on human rights and Taiwan, and briefed the guests on China's domestic situation and military construction.

Chilingutila said that the purpose of his current visit is to further develop friendly cooperation between the two countries andtheir armed forces, and that he believes the two sides will surelydo so.

He said that Taiwan is part of Chinese territory and that Angola supports China's full reunification.
