China PLA Chief of General Staff Meets Indonesian Guests

Fu Quanyou, chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met with Hanafie Asnan, air force chief of staff of Indonesia, and his party in Beijing on January 24.

Fu, who is also a member of the Central Military Commission, noted that the further development of cooperation and friendship between the two countries conforms to the fundamental interests of the two peoples, and is conducive to peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region and the world at large.

He said the Chinese armed forces value its relations with the Indonesian military and is willing to increase exchange and cooperation with Indonesia on the basis of the five principles of peaceful co-existence.

He also briefed the guests on China's view of major international issues and China's military construction.

Asnan said that China plays an important role in maintaining peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region and that he hopes the military forces of the two countries will further increase their cooperation.
