The China Centenary Altar, where the Chinese government and people ushered in the new millennium, has had 250,000 visitors in the first four days of the new century.

The China Centenary Altar, which is expected to be completely finished by October this year, is located in the western part of the capital between the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution and China's Central Television Station. The altar covers a total area of 4.5 hectares and has, among other things, a main building, a bronze paved path and a sacred flame square.

A 34.6 ton white marble stele, nine meters long and 1.05 meters high, stands at the southern entrance of the altar inscribed with an epigraph written by President Jiang Zemin.

The 270-meter-long and 15-meter-wide path connects the square and the main building of the altar.
