Business China's Investment Surges in Jan-Oct

Total investment in China hit 1.37 trillion yuan (about 166 billion US dollars) in the first ten months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 7 percent, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

Of the total, 794.02 billion yuan (about 96 billion USdollars) went to capital construction projects, growing 6.6 percent, and 251.94 billion yuan (about 30 billion US dollars) was made for technical upgrading and transformation, down 0.9 percent.

In terms of regions, Guangdong Province, the economic powerhouse in south China, had the largest amount of investment of 149.34 billion yuan (18 billion US dollars).

Northeast China's Jilin Province enjoyed the fastest increase among all provinces and autonomous regions, with its investment surging 25.4 percent to 29.65 billion yuan (3.6 billion US dollars).
