Business Guangdong Leads in Industrial Output Value

Guangdong Province, the economic powerhouse in south China, led the country in terms of industrial output value in the first ten months of this year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

The latest figures offered by the bureau show that Guangdong's industrial output value in the January-October period stood at 807. 51 billion yuan (about 97.5 billion US dollars), surging 15.25 percent on an annual basis.

Guangdong was followed by east China's Jiangsu Province, with an industrial output value of 657.98 billion yuan, and Shanghai Municipality with 473.44 billion yuan.

A pioneer in China's reform and opening up drive, Guangdong has developed a full-blown processing industry and a large proportion of its enterprises are export-oriented.
