The city of Zhuhai in south China's Guangdong Province has turned into a sea of jubilation , with tens of thousands of citizens gathered on both sides of the streets to see off the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) troops to be stationed in the Macao Special Administrative

Region.

Along the nearly 10-km-long street from the troops' barracks to the Gongbei Control Checkpoint are people singing and dancing with flowers and colorful ribbons. Cheers go up wherever the PLA troops arrive. People offer flowers to soldiers and officers of the Macao Garrison. The soldiers and officers salute the people in return.

The PLA Macao Garrison was formed last April.

An official with the Zhuhai city government says that at least 200,000 people have come to see off the PLA troops.
