China PLA Troops Set off for Macao

The troops of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Macao Garrison have left their barracks for Macao, where they are to take up defense duties as local garrison.

At the order to set off from the commander, about 500 troops left the barracks in ten armored vehicles and more than 60 vehicles of other types amidst the farewell roar of drums and gongs played by local people.

Liu Yuejun, commander of the PLA Macao Garrison, said the barracks in Zhuhai will continue to serve as a logistics base for the garrison troops in Macao, helping train reserve armymen and provide logistics backing.

The troops are expected to enter Macao through the Gongbei control checkpoint.
