The first atlas of Macao covering Macao's geography, local people's life styles, public works, and social and economic conditions was released in Macao on December 13.

Mapping and designing for the atlas was done jointly by Macao Cartography and Registry Services and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

A feature of the atlas is its detailed content. It contains Macao's streets, big and small, aerial images of the city, and specialized maps featuring its topography, climate, and tourist sites.

The atlas has Chinese and Portuguese indexes.

Released at the same time is a CD-ROM about Macao's geography.
