Sports Qatar to Offer to Host World Cup Qualifiers

Qatar will present its offer to host the group matches for the 2002 World Cup qualifiers, said a Qatar soccer official in Doha on Wednesday.

Salem al-Qawari, vice president of Qatar's federation, said that they are going to ask the three other federations if they can host the group matches.

On Tuesday's draw at Tokyo for the World Cup qualifying campaign, Qatar was put into group three which also featured Malaysia, Hong Kong of China and Palestine.

National team coach Jamal Hajji said his players would not be used to the rainy climate in Malaysia or Hong Kong of China. (Xinhua)
