Business Seven-fold Increase of Investment Seen in Shanghai's Pudong

Since last September people in Pudong of Shanghai has been assured a new tide of investment from abroad and other parts of China.

Under contracts signed, six famous Chinese and foreign enterprises and companies including Japan's Toshiba, Sweden's Volvo, Zhejiang Wanxiang Group Corporation Ltd. and Harbin Institute of Technology have come to settle down in Pudong. Statistics show that in October alone Pudong has attracted an investment of US$19.2 million, including a contracted amount of US$70 million, to show a 6 and 3 time increase respectively over the same period of last year.

It is reported that leaders from many transnational and Chinese corporations have come on a visit to show their satisfaction with the investment environment found in Pudong. Some large enterprises and companies, though no investment has been made, have even show the strong desire to become new investors in Pudong.

With the founding of Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Garden there has already been seen a new wave of making investment in Shanghai's Pudong. In the last three months, there is on average a scientific research institution, industrial undertaking or investment company to be set up in every seven days in Pudong.
