Sports Ghana Olympic Hopes to Take Knock

Ghanaian hopes of qualifying for a third consecutive Olympic Games football tournament took a dive at the weekend after a 2-1 defeat in Cameroon.

The Yaounde result left All-Africa Games champions Cameroon on top of Group B with six points from two games followed by South Africa with four, Ghana with one and Guinea with none. Only the pool winners are guaranteed a place at the 2000 Olympic finals.

Messi Mbida of Cameroon scored the opening goal after 33 minutes and Nana Duah of Ghana levelled the score in the 78th minute only for Fils to snatch the winner two minutes later. (Xinhua)
