Sports Hong Kong to Bid for FESPIC Games

China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, which has already made a decision late November to bid for the 2006 Asian Games, will launch a bid to host the Far East and South Pacific Games for the Disabled (FESPIC) in the same year.

The announcement was made by York Chow, chairman of the Hong Kong Sports Association for the Physical Disabled at a press conference late Sunday.

"We have already obtained government support on this issue and hopefully, follow the way of our able-bodied athletes," said Chow.

Chow said that his association's next step would be to draft an application this month, and submit it in January to the regional body, located in Japan.

Biding for the FESPIC Games is a usual practice when a city bids to host the Asian Games. (Xinhua)
