Sports China Dominate Last-day Races at World Cup

China showed its superiority in short-track speed skating as they put 6 golds under their belt at the fourth leg of the short-track speed skating World Cup Series that concluded in Changchun on Sunday.

Claiming the title on Friday in the women's 1,500m, Yang Yang (A), the Nagano Olympic 1,000m silver medalist, became the individual champion of the leg after landing two more golds in the women's 1,000m and 3,000m, clocking in 1:37.077 and 5:14.197 respectively.

China dominated the women's 1,000m final with Yang's teammates Yang Yang (S) and Wang Chunlu clinching the silver and the bronze.

South Korean Kim Dong-Sung, the reigning Olympic champion, shaved one hundredth second off the world record of 1:27.454 set by Italian Fabio Carta in January 24, 1999 in the men's 1,000 meters final to win the title, clocking 1:27.307.

Apolo Anton Ohno from the United States surpassed the world record too with a time of 1:27.410 and took the silver. He also got the men's individual gold.

China's Keng Kai bagged the gold in the men's 3,000m with a winning time of 5:50.275 and Chinese teams took home the golds of the men's 5,000m and women's 3,000m relay.
