Sports Russian Iakovlev Named MVP in World Cup Volleyball

Roman Iakovlev received the Most Valuable Player's award on Thursday after leading Russia to their first major victory at the World Cup men's volleyball tournament.

South Koreans took three out of the eight individual awards named on Thursday.

Winners of the individual awards:

Most valuable player: Roman Iakovlev, Russia

Best scorer: Rafael Pascual Cortes, Spain

Best attacker: Roman Iakovlev, Russia

Best blocker: Bang Sing-Bong, South Korea

Best setter: Lloy James Ball, the United States

Best digger: Lee Ho, South Korea

Best receiver: Lee Ho, South Korea

Best server: Osvaldo Hernandez Chambe, Cuba
