'99 China Fashion Week and the Third China Garment Design Exposition opened in Beijing on December 2, attracting more than 1,000 exhibits from all over the world.

The Fashion Week was sponsored by China Garment Association and China Garment Designers Association. Officials of the State Administration of Textile Industry, envoys from a dozen of countries and some world famous designers attended the opening ceremony.

Dozens of garment producers participated in the exposition, including Chinese big names such as Romon, Rouse, and Tahan, while the works of some Chinese young fashion designers were on display, featuring the latest tide at the Chinese market.

The Exhibition of Chic Chinois Design Competition sponsored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and the Felissimo Group of Japan also opened as part of the exposition, with some awarded works on display. These works will also be exhibited in Paris in March next year.
