Education HK Lawyer Receives Honorary Professorship From Procurators College

A Hong Kong barrister and international anti-corruption expert received a honorary professorship from China's National Procurators College on November 23.

Alain Chung Ping Sham, a long-time prosecutor in corruption crimes, was named deputy attorney general of Hong Kong Chamber of Attorneys in 1995. He is now a director of the anti-corruption commission attached to the Hong Kong Chamber of Attorneys.

Sham graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 1978. He is also Chairman of the Hong Kong Local Government Counsel Association.

In an address delivered at the ceremony, Sham vowed to building the college into a world-class Academy for China's procurators. Hu Kehui, deputy procurator-general of China's Supreme People's Procuratorate, gave a speech at the ceremony.

Hu highly rated the legal exchanges between the procuratorial organs of the central government and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). She said that anti-corruption campaigns require the cooperation of both the mainland and the HKSAR.

The National Procurators College will continue to bestow honorary professorships to distinguished scholars and experts from China and abroad to strengthen teaching and research. (Xinhua)
