Education College Students Celebrate Experiment of First Spacecraft

When news of China's first successful spacecraft experiment swept Beijing University of Aviation and Astronautics (BUAA), the students were elated.

Just after seven o'clock on the morning of November 21, college students had already put up posters on the campus bulletin board. Some of these posters read: "Cheering Shenzhou! (the name of the spacecraft and a poetic name for China) and We're Proud of Shenzhou", and " Promote Astronautics and Bring Glory to China!"

Shen Shituan, president of the University, said with emotion that "the successful experiment of the first spacecraft fulfilled the long-waited wish of people working in astronautics We are greatly encouraged by the news."

He said that BUAA has trained generations of talented astronauts since its founding. Many of them have contributed to today's success.

Zhang Guangjun, who took part the research experiment and is a professor at BUAA, said that it is another breakthrough for astronautics in China after the successful launching of "atomic, hydrogen bombs and a satellite".

"China has proven again to the world that she is fully capable of developing high-technology on her own," he said.

Wang Xiaohui, a student with BUAA, said that she had dreamt of traveling to space when she was quite young and felt extremely proud when China launched "Shenzhou" on November 21. Wang expressed her determination to study harder and make China stronger. (Xinhua)
