Business Beijing Hosts Asian-European Conference SPS Seminar

As China's projected entry into the WTO is upcoming, how to understand and implement related WTO rules has appeared to be increasingly important. The Asian-European Conference SPS Seminar, sponsored by the State Administration of Entry and Exit Inspection and Quarantine, was held in Beijing November 23.

SPS, that is, the WTO agreement on implementation of animal and plant health quarantine measures, an important international norm in the field of animal and plant health quarantine, it is also one of the seven priority fields listed in the action program for facilitating Asian-European trade, which was approved by the second Asian-European Summit held in April last year, SPS stresses the need to reduce to the minimum the passive action of animal and plant health measures on trade. The present seminar will actively discuss matters including simplification of SPS procedures.
