China Burundi President Visits Qinghai Province

Burundi President Pierre Buyoya arrived Xining, the capital city of northwest China's Qinghai Province on the afternoon of November 16 to continue his five-day state visit to China.

Deputy Governor Liu Guanghe met with President Buyoya here this evening.

Liu said since Qinghai and Gitaga Province of Burundi formed ties of friendship in 1991, the governors of the two provinces have exchanged visits. And Qinghai has sent eight medical teams to Burundi since 1980s, helping promote Sino-Burundi friendship, he said.

President Buyoya said that Burundi hopes to further its relations with China, especially with Qinghai. He also expressed the hope that the cooperation between the two sides would be expanded to economic and trade areas.
