Business Guangdong Invites International Advice on Economic Development

A meeting exploring ways to restructure the economy of south China's Guangdong province by adapting current global development trends in science and technology wrapped up on November 14.

The International Consultative Conference on the Future Economic Development of Guangdong ended today after four special topic seminars on information technology (IT), financing, scientific developments and industrial upgrading.

Top executives from a number of famous multinational corporations such as IBM, Nortel, Hewlett Packard, Lucent, Microsoft, BP Amoco and Royal Dutch-shell Group offered suggestions for the province's economic development.

"We were given some very good advice at the conference," said Lu Ruihua, Governor of Guangdong.

According to him, 20 CEOs and high-level decision makers of overseas firms and institutes have been appointed as the province' s international advisers, and a special organization has been set up to relay their suggestions. (Xinhua)
