Business Overseas-Funded Firms Report Big Rise in Profits

Overseas-funded enterprises in east China's Jiangsu Province have reported a stable economic performance in the first nine months this year, making it possible for a big-margin increase in profit on a yearly basis.

Some 7,800 local foreign-funded enterprises saw their business income grow year-on-year at 22 percent in the nine-month period, with profits soaring 168 percent and losses declining 20 percent.

The number of overseas-funded enterprises with profits exceeding 10 million yuan each reached 124, a rise from 120 in the previous year.

The province now has 242 foreign-funded enterprises each dealing with more than five million US dollars of exports per year. They account for 68 percent of exports by local foreign- funded enterprises.
