Sci-Tech China Holds International Wireless Communications Exhibition

The third Beijing International Wireless Communications Exhibition was held on November 9 to focus on state-of-the-art technology as the industry gears up to head into the third-generation mobile communications system.

The five-day event is expected to serve as a communication bridge for telecom manufacturers from home and abroad to promote China's telecom network development, China Daily of November 10 quoted Information Industry Vice-Minister Zhou Deqiang as saying.

The exhibition attracted more than 190 telecom manufacturers form 17 countries and regions around the world.

China's capacity of mobile communication switches had expanded to 59 million lines by August this year, while the number of mobile subscribers hit 36 million. (Xinhua)
