Culture China Boasts 870 Forest Parks

According to a national conference held in Guiyang on November 6, China has built a total of 870 forest parks.

These parks occupy more than 7.48 million hectares in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities. They account for 0.78 percent of China's territory.

Of these forest parks, 292 are state-level parks which cover 5. 3 million hectares. Apart from some natural forests, most of these parks were formerly windbreaks and man-made forest located at the source of major rivers.

Forest departments have turned them into forest parks in recent years to help improve natural ecological environment and meet with the growing needs of holiday makers.
