Education International Symposium on Engineering Education Starts

An international symposium on engineering education in the 21st century started on November 3 in Beijing.

Participants from China, France, Germany, Japan, the United States and other countries will discuss the topic and exchange experiences in the field.

So far, China has shaped the world's-largest educational system for engineering studies, which is producing quality personnel to assist in the country's construction.

Other issues on the agenda are economic globalization and its influence on engineering education, development of a review system for progress in engineering education, cooperation between enterprises and universities, and the development of information technology.

Zhu Gaofeng, vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Zhou Yuanqing, vice-minister of education, delivered key-note speeches at the opening ceremony of the three-day symposium. (Xinhua)
