Friday, October 29, 1999, updated at 16:57(GMT+8) World President Jiang Spells out China's Stand on Middle East Visiting Chinese President Jiang Zemin spelled out a four-point position of the Chinese government on the Middle East question, during his talks in Rabat with King Mohammed VI of Morocco on October 28. The four points are as follows: Firstly, China advocates peace instead of resorting to violence, cooperation instead of confrontation and inclusion instead of exclusion. Secondly, China maintains that broad respect should be given to the territorial integration and sovereign independence of each Middle East country, its security be ensured, the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people be restored and respected, and people of all nations should live in peace and harmony. Thirdly, China supports relevant parties of the Middle East to take as their strategic choice the peaceful settlement of disputes through negotiations. China also hopes that they will carry out without reservation the relevant United Nations resolutions, adhere to the principle of "land for peace" and insist in implementing the existing agreements. Fourthly, China hopes that the international community will increase its efforts of promoting peace. China will as always work for the realization of a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East together with the international community.
