A magician and a PhD candidate

Yang Zhiming, 24, is a PhD candidate majoring in material analysis at the Beijing Institute of Technology. PhD candidates are usually considered as nerds with thick glasses and wired hair style and without any sense of humor. But Yang Zhiming proves it wrong with his excellent magic show and academic performance.

Yang learned to perform magic when he was 7. Now he is pursuing his doctorial degree, but he is still an enthusiastic magician. "Magic is similar with scientific research in many ways," Yang said. "Both of them require not only wide reading but also creative thinking."

Yang said that his parents don't want him to be a magician because they don't think he is good enough to become a professional one. He said he will make more efforts to achieve his dream.
