MOSCOW, Oct. 17 -- Senior officials of Chinese and Russian ruling parties pledged on Thursday to step up inter-party exchanges in order to help enhance the development of relations between the two countries.

Noting that the mass-line principle is a lifeline for a ruling party, Wang Jiarui, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the ruling United Russia party have accumulated a lot of experience in strengthening ties with the people.

Wang, also head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at the fourth meeting in Russia's Siberian city of Omsk under the mechanism of dialogue between bilateral ruling parties.

Regular contacts between the two parties under the mechanism have contributed to enhancing exchanges on party building and state governance, lifting respective governing ability, boosting mutual trust and support of each other's development, and improving the bilateral relationship, Wang said.

Boris Gryzlov, chairman of the Supreme Council of United Russia, said communication between the two parties has seen substantial results, urging for more efforts.
