BEIJING, Oct. 12 -- Chinese President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with his Macedonian counterpart Gjorge Ivanov on Saturday to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Since China and Macedonia established diplomatic relations two decades ago, they have forged ahead with frequent high-level exchanges and deepened mutual political trust, as well as increased trade and cultural cooperation, said Xi in his message.

The Chinese president said China, which attaches great importance to China-Macedonia relations, is willing to work with the Balkan country to achieve more to the benefit of both countries and their people, on the basis of mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win results.

Ivanov agreed that China and Macedonia have a history of friendship and share great potential for further cooperation, and praised the constructive political dialogue with China.

Macedonia looks forward to deepening their mutual trust, and expanding and diversifying the cooperation between the two countries, he added.
