MONROVIA. Aug. 29 -- The Liberian government delegation returned after a visit to China, where officials held very successful discussions with the Export-Import Bank of China (EXIM), the Foreign Ministry of the West African country said on Thursday.
The delegation headed by Finance Minister Amara M. Konneh comprised Hon. O. Natty B. Davies, Chairman of the National Investment Commission (NIC); Senator Sumo G. Kupee, Chairman of the Senate Ways, Means and Finance Committee; Hon. J. Emmanuel Nuquay, Chairman of the House Ways, Means and Finance Committee; Cllr. Benedict F. Sannoh, Deputy Minister of Justice; Hon. Victor Smith, Acting Minister of Public Works.
The delegation met with China EXIM President Li Ruogu and other Chinese officials to discuss the possibility of securing a loan package to finance key infrastructure projects.
The projects include the Gbarnga-Mendicorma and Ganta-Fishtown highways, a new terminal and runway for the Robert International Airport (RIA) and the Transmission and Distribution (TD) lines in the capital Monrovia.
