Sr. CPC official meets with Myanmar delegation

BEIJING, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Liu Yunshan met with a delegation of Myanmar's ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) on Tuesday.

The delegation was headed by USDP General Secretary U Maung Maung Thein.

Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said Chinese leaders attach great importance to the bilateral relationship and firmly adhere to a friendly policy toward Myanmar.

China will make joint efforts with the Myanmar side to carry out the consensus reached by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Myanmar President U Thein Sein to further advance the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries, Liu said.

"Party-to-party exchanges are significant in the promotion of state-to-state relations," Liu said, adding that the CPC is ready to increase friendly interactions with the USDP, the two parties can learn from each other about governance and they can further cement the friendship between the two countries.

U Maung Maung Thein said he was impressed by the great progress in China and was more clear on the direction for future cooperation between the two sides.

The USDP will carry forward the tradition of friendship and seize current opportunities to consolidate and expand cooperation between the two countries as well as the two parties, the general secretary said.
