BELGRADE, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic on Monday sent Chinese Premier Li Keqiang condolences regarding the high number of casualties and material damage caused by the strong earthquake that hit China, said a news release on Serbian government website.

"On behalf of the government of Serbia and on my own behalf, I am sending you our deepest condolences following the loss of so many lives in your country," the statement read.

"Serbian citizens sympathise with the Chinese people in these difficult times. The government of Serbia is ready to assist in the alleviation of severe consequences of the earthquake," it further read.

The death toll from the 7.0-magnitude earthquake that hit Lushan County of southwest China's Sichuan Province on Saturday has risen to 192, with 23 missing, authorities said Monday.
