ZHENGZHOU, Jan. 28 -- A policeman who injured a baby by hurling her onto the ground after a drinking session was sentenced to three years in jail by a local court in central China's Henan Province on Tuesday.
Guo Zengxi, of the Public Security Bureau of Linzhou City, was convicted of the crime of intentional injury by the court of Wenfeng District of Anyang City, according to the statement issued by the Henan Provincial Higher People's Court.
It said that on the evening of July 18, 2013, Guo took a seven-month-old baby girl from her parents and threw her to the ground at the entrance of a karaoke club in Linzhou after dining and drinking alcohol with friends at a local restaurant.
A local hospital confirmed later that the baby suffered slight head injuries.
Guo was detained on Aug. 17, 2013 and stood trial on Jan. 31.
He confessed to the crime and said in the court that he would not file an appeal, according to the statement.
