QINGDAO, Nov. 23 -- The death toll from an oil pipeline explosion in the eastern Chinese city of Qingdao has climbed to 47, rescue headquarters at the scene said Saturday.

The blast occurred at 10:30 a.m on Friday in the Huangdao District of Qingdao, Shandong Province, after oil leaked from a Sinopec pipeline into the municipal pipe network, an initial investigation showed.
