Chinese central authorities on Monday dispatched six special inspection teams to supervise grassroots medical reform in 12 provincial-level regions, according to a statement from the State Council, China's Cabinet.

The inspection will primarily focus on the operation of the essential drug system, and reform of structure and income distribution in grassroots medical and health institutions, the statement said.

It will also examine rural doctor services and personnel stability.

The inspectors will supervise drug bidding and purchasing units and listen to opinions of the masses regarding the service of grassroots medical and health organizations, it added.

Those found to have failed to implement reform policies will be asked to rectify their operations, the statement continued.
